Humana advances access to physician comparison information

Looking for a physician? Want to rate a physician? BHCG members can now easily link from Humana’s online Physician Finder and MyChoice tools to a web site called Vitals.com. Vitals.com aggregates public and private information about all 720,000 physicians that practice in the United States.

Humana has partnered with Vitals.com to give BHCG members easy access to the site in order to support educated decision making when choosing a physician. Users can look up physician credentials, education, specialties, personal information and even patient reviews. Vitals.com can help BHCG members, their employees and their dependents find the doctor that is right for them. The site serves as a sort of “matchmaking” service to direct members to the physician who is the best fit for them.

Members can check on a specific doctor, find a doctor or even rate a doctor. Members can search for a doctor by:

  • Location
  • Condition or symptom(s)
  • Name
  • Specialty
  • Expertise

There are several unique features available to visitors to the Vitals.com site including:

  • The ability for patients to leave reviews about their experiences with a physician
  • Side-by-side comparisons of doctors
  • The ability to refine searches by prioritizing what elements of a doctor’s profile is most important to members including their years of experience, the quality of their training and quality of the hospital(s) at which they practice
  • Search results which include a “match score” to indicate how well the physician matches the member’s personal preferences, such as location or gender

Humana research has shown that members want the ability to see and get a feel for a physician before they make an appointment. On Vitals.com, physicians can add a photo and a general statement about themselves and their practice. All the information available on Vitals.com assists BHCG members to choose the right physician for them and allows them to share feedback about physicians with others.
