How Are We Doing?
Measuring our successes

BHCG membership continues to grow
As of the end of September 2009, the BHCG had over 1,000 employer members representing 101,778 employees and dependents participating in the Humana Preferred (BHCG) network – a gain of 4 percent in the number of employees and dependents since June 30 of this year.

Best practice report card findings
Driving employee behavior change remains a key strategy in the BHCG’s goal of moving southeastern Wisconsin’s health care costs to, or below, the Midwest average. A recent report card measured how well member employers are doing, in aggregate, in driving employee behavior change. Twenty-eight employers participated in the survey including self-insured and fully-insured employers with customized plan designs. Among the findings:

  • 78 percent of surveyed employers offered health risk assessments (HRAs) with an incentive or promotion while 81 percent offered health screenings and 87 percent offered lifestyle management programs
  • When HRAs are offered, 41 percent of the employers had greater than 80 percent member participation
  • When health screenings are offered, 54 percent of the employers had greater than 80 percent member participation
  • Member registration numbers for Humana’s website improved. In 2008, 34 percent of employers had between 40 and 80 percent member registration on the site. In 2009, 53 percent had member registration between 40 and 80 percent.
