2009 Strategic Initiatives Update
From the Executive Director
by Dianne Kiehl

The BHCG remains committed to its goal of reducing the cost of health care in southeast Wisconsin to at or below the Midwest average. Achieving this goal is a marathon, not a sprint. It will require the commitment of all stakeholders – employers, providers, consumers and our administrative partner.

Recently, we identified nine strategic initiatives that we believe will help bring us closer to our goal. The expected outcomes of these initiatives align with BHCG values and strategies. In evaluating the initiatives we will support and participate in, we used the following criteria: Is there a reasonable expectation that members will adopt the initiative? MEET OUR Director of Membership Development
Reaching out to employers and brokers

Meet John Wuich, the Business Health Care Group’s first director of membership development. John is charged with new BHCG member recruitment and the retention of current members. Since February, he has been working directly with area brokers and consultants to assist them in communicating the BHCG value proposition and the benefits of membership to their clients while supporting them in their sales and service efforts.

John comes to us with an accomplished track record of success in the human resources and benefits arena in senior positions he held with Automatic Data Processing (ADP) and Mercer’s human resources consulting practice.

“John brings a unique array of talents that serve our current members well and enhance our efforts to recruit new members,” said executive director, Dianne Kiehl.   Read More

The Humana MomentumSM Program
Employers and employees both gain

From its inception, the BHCG has embraced the strategy that a key to reducing health care costs is encouraging employees to take an active role in their own health. Employees engaged in their health care make more informed decisions, leading to better health and reduced costs.

Humana’s Momentum Program is designed specifically to help BHCG employers engage their employees in their own health and reward them for healthier behaviors. In turn, employers are eligible for discounts off their medical rate at renewal. Read More
